At Henry County High School it’s senior project time and throughout their senior year students had to pick a mentor to work with them. I wanted to take the time to acknowledge a wonderful woman in this county who gave of her time, her talent and wisdom when she didn’t have to. Most of you may know her as she is involved in lots of different clubs and activities here at home. Her name is Malissa Beatty. She really is a hometown hero. She is a local artist here in town and an outstanding member of our small community. My son who has always been very gifted in drawing things wanted to learn more about oil painting. I had seen Malissa make a presentation of one of her paintings to fiscal court one night years ago and thought wow that is beautiful, she certainly is a gifted artist. My son contacted her this year for his senior project and Malissa happily agreed to be his mentor. She gave of her own time and talent willingly and has passed on some of her priceless talent to my son. She has given a gift to our son and our family that we can never repay, not to mention the countless little things she did for him along the way, loaning him the tools of her craft and making him cookies and providing him lunch when she really didn’t have to. She really went above and beyond the call of duty and folks that was priceless. She can take a normal photograph of yours and turn it into a beautiful portrait for you to cherish for years to come.
So thank you Malissa Beatty for all that you do for our community and for all that you have done for our family. You really are a Henry County angel.
