Announcing candidacy

-A A +A

Hello, my name is Shanda Scriber Archer, and I am writing to inform you that I have filed as a Democratic candidate for the office of Henry County Clerk. The date of the primary election will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

Although I know many of you, at this time I would like to briefly introduce myself and explain what brought me to this decision.

First and foremost, I am a very proud lifelong resident of Henry County. Growing up in New Castle, one could almost say I literally grew up at the steps of the courthouse. My roots are also in Franklinton where we have spent the last 17 years raising a family and remodeling my grandparent’s home. I attended New Castle Elementary, Henry County Middle and graduated with the class of ’86 from Henry County High School. I went on to become a licensed cosmetologist, married my husband Frank Archer and started a family. We have three children, two boys and a girl. My oldest son, Stephen, is a freshman at Bellarmine, and our other two children, Jessie and Ryan, attend Henry County Middle School. Though I loved being a beautician, in 1997 I had the opportunity to work at the county clerk’s office and found my heart is in serving the people of Henry County. April 1, I will celebrate my seventeenth year as a deputy clerk.

Being in this office for as long as I have, I have had the privilege of working for both past and present county clerks, Juanita Lashley and Rhonda Carpenter. After Juanita announced her plans to retire in December, I knew that it was time for me to step up and do more for the people of Henry County.

After much thought and prayer, I decided to run for office.

I believe that my years in the clerk’s office have prepared me well for the position, and if elected, I will be able to provide a new level of leadership, guidance and direction for the county while still promoting things I have learned from my mentors; things such as integrity, cooperation, honesty and responsibility. We have a very good team at the Henry County Clerk’s Office. I want to see that continue as does our current staff.

Before the Primary Election approaches us on Tuesday, May 20, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. Know that I have and always will be here to serve you, the people of Henry County, and answer any questions and listen to concerns you may have. Please also feel free to contact me if you would like more information about my candidacy or myself. I know the importance of this place that I call home. I would appreciate your vote May 20, 2014.

Best Regards, Shanda Archer
