Henry Baughman of Smithfield won the 70-and-over singles title of the 41st annual Bocage Invitational Category 2 National Tennis Championships in Baton Rouge, LA.

Baughman defeated long-time nemesis Lester Sack of New Orleans — former national champion in the 45-49 age group and inductee into the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame — 6-4, 1-6 and 6-1 in the finals. In college at Tulane University, Laster was a member of the NCAA team champion and played on the “Pro” Tennis Tour. He also played at Wimbledon and the U.S. National Championships at Forrest Hills, NY, and won the highly-regarded Canadian Doubles Championships. Baughman, who is good friends with Sack, had lost to him six times previously, but joined him on the Southern Section all-star team in the National Inter-Sectional Championships — the team finished first in the nation in 2006.
