Beshear carries Henry

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear carried Henry County by almost a 2-1 margin over Republican incumbent Ernie Fletcher Tuesday, with 2,746 votes to Fletcher's 1,633. Turnout in Henry County for Tuesday's election was just 42 percent.

Beshear carried every precinct in the county. The closest margin was in the East Pendleton precinct, where Beshear and running mate Daniel Mongiardo edged Fletcher and his candidate Robbie Rudolph by one vote. The widest margin came out of the East Eminence precinct, where Beshear carried the precinct by 176 votes.

As of 8:50 p.m., with 88 percent of Kentucky precincts reporting, Beshear and Mongiardo led with almost 59.1 percent of the vote.

In other state races, C.M. "Trey" Grayson defeated Democratic challenger S. Bruce Henderson in Henry county. At press time, Grayson, the incumbent, was leading Hendrickson with 56 percent of the vote statewide.

Jack Conway carried Henry County in the Attorney General's race. At press time, Conway led Lee with 61 percent of the statewide vote.

Incumbent Auditor of Public Accounts Crit Luallen carried Henry County over Republican challenger Linda Greenwell, 2749 to 1493. Statewide, Luallen was leading with 60 percent of the statewide vote at press time.

In the race for State Treasurer, Democrat L.J. "Todd" Hollenbach carried Henry County over Republican Melinda Wheeler, 2631 to 1619. Statewide, with 80 percent of precincts reporting, Hollenbach was leading Wheeler with 58 percent of the vote.

Finally, incumbent Commissioner of Agriculture Richie Farmer carried Henry County over Democratic challenger David Lynn Williams 2648 to 1507. Statewide, Farmer led with 64 percent of the vote.
