Last year’s Biggest Loser participants lost a total of 609 pounds so be getting your teams together for the 5th Annual Biggest Loser Contest which will be running from July 15th through September 24th . Registration begins the 1st day of the weigh-in. Late entries will be accepted. The contest will end on September 24, 2012 and the awards celebration will be on October 15, 2012.
Teams will consist of 3 or more people aged 18 and older. Each team is encouraged to appoint a team captain for support and accountability. Contest participants must each pay a $20 entry fee and weekly weight management fees of $5 if weight is gained or if a contestant fails to show for a weekly weigh-in. There is no fee charged if the contestant maintains the same weight or loses weight from the previous week. All fees are non-refundable.
The amount of the grand prize, final prizes and incentive prizes will be based on the funds generated by the entry fees and the weight management fees and prize money will be paid out at the final celebration only. There will be a $10 cash reward at the final celebration for each contestant meeting the following criteria:
• All Fees Are Paid
• Weighs In On The Final Week
• Attends The Final Celebration
The initial weigh-in will be at Henry Christian Church from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 16. There will be two weigh-in days each week at two weigh-in sites: Henry Christian Church from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Sundays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays; and The Henry County Extension Office from 9 to 11 a.m. on Mondays. Contestants are encouraged to weigh-in on a consistent day, but may weigh-in on either day of that week if they have a schedule conflict. There will be no weigh-in on Week 7, Sept. 2 and 3, due to the Labor Day Holiday (no penalties).
New this year: you can participate in the Biggest Loser Healthtrac Transformation. You will submit a success story and “open” book quiz based on your hand-outs at the last weigh in and be eligible for a $100 cash prize to be presented at the final celebration event.
Contestants may use any weight loss or exercise plan they choose but contestants are encouraged to consult with their health care provider before starting this contest and to keep him/her advised of their plans and progress. The organizers of this contest are: Maryellen Garrison (Henry County Extension Office), Brenda Mason and Cheryl Tingle (Henry Christian Church.) The organizers may participate in the contest but are ineligible for any cash prizes. The North Central District Health Department will conduct blood pressure and blood sugar screenings at the initial weigh in and at the ending weigh in, Henry County Biggest Loser Contest funds will be on deposit at the United Citizens Bank of New Castle, Kentucky. Contestants will not hold Henry Christian Church, Henry County Extension Office, North Central District Health Dept., or the contest organizers for any and all liability.
