The Henry County Chamber of Commerce Car Show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Harry Hill Park. Admission is free, and entertainment will be provided by DJ Rick Johnson. There also will be cake walks, kids games and 50-50.
The important part is the beautiful cars on display. Last year we had 95 and this year we hope for 100 plus. With the top 50 trophies and specialty trophies being given at 2:30, we hope to have a great day of fun and fellowship. To register a car is $20, and door prizes, goody bags and dash plaques are given to the first 50 cars registered. All vehicles are welcome, no matter their age. Lunch is available from KMRT with fresh (never frozen) hamburgers and other choices including fried green tomatoes and fried green beans.
Our 6th Annual Car show is sponsored by Dairy Queen and Bedford Loan and Deposit Bank. We also thank Pyles Body and Paint for the Dash Plaque sponsorship and all of our great chamber members who sponsored trophies.
We are taking part in the Pride of the Counties at the Kentucky State Fair from Aug. 16-26. We will have a single booth (No. 30), so stop by and say hi to the people who have agreed to take a shift working the booth and sharing information about Henry County and where we are located. It is amazing how many people ask the question, “Where in the world is Henry County?” We plan to let them know what a nice area we have here and invite them to check us out. Thanks to the Henry County Farm Bureau for sponsoring our booth and to the willing workers who agreed to share information about Henry County.
Congratulations to Perry’s Tri County Hardware for 21 years of doing business in Henry County. They had a wonderful customer appreciation day. Also Pyles Body and Paint are celebrating 20 years of businesses. I think this shows that local people with local businesses are successful!

Our Harvest Showcase Breakfast was really good, as usual. Many thanks to Jason and Darrell Scriber for their fine cooking, Josh Clubb for his food arranging, Terri Cummings for making sure all received what they ordered as well as serving coffee, Beverly Potter for the orange juice duty, and Barbara Porter for being in charge of the cash register. We thank Dairy Queen for their donation of coffee, cups and orange juice, Cook’s Pharmacy and True Value Hardware for the water donation, KMRT for the donation of plates, and Donald Norton, Kenny Spies, and Quail Run for good Henry County eggs, and J.T. Stinson and his ham curing crew for our hams.
Henry County could not have a Chamber of Commerce without the many businesses and citizens who support our work.
Neal Morris is one of the best as he continually contributes his wood bowls and other items to help with our work. We thank him for all his many donations, and we wish him and his lovely wife Rose good health and the best life offers. No one knows better than I how many good people there are in this county. To name them all would take the entire section of the Local, but I just want them to know they are truly appreciated.
