The saying goes a little like this: Change is inevitable.
Earlier this month, we had a big, big change: Landmark Webpress — the plant that printed our paper for almost 30 years — closed. That meant we would print at a new location.
As with all transitions, there have been some growing pains.
The paper looked a little off the first week at our new plant, but we think we’ve gotten a pretty good handle on that one.
But the other issues have been more difficult.
To put it mildly, we’ve had some delivery problems since the plant switch.
Our faithful and loyal subscribers are the ones who have been hardest hit by this, with papers arriving late, or worse… not arriving at all.
We are working very, very hard to solve the problem.
Circulation manager Tawnja Morris and I will, in the coming weeks, visit our new plant to see everything in operation, in part so we can get an idea of what the problem is and where it might be happening.
But we understand that knowing exactly what the problem is provides little satisfaction to either you or us.
We know you want your paper to be in your mailbox on Wednesday, not Thursday. And we want you to have it on time!
That said, we do believe we’re very close to figuring out what the problem is and solving it. We humbly ask for your patience as we get this one ironed out.
Believe me — we know you’re not happy, and neither are we.
In the mean time, if your paper hasn’t arrived by, say, Thursday afternoon — more than enough time for wayward papers to find their way home — please call us and let us know. We’ll be more than happy to help you.
And please, bear with us just a little while longer.
