Christmas in New Castle

-A A +A
By The Staff

Christmas in New Castle, formerly Light Up New Castle, is this Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The twilight parade will begin lining up at New Castle Elementary School at 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and the route of the parade will come Church Street to Main Street, through town to East College Street to North Property Road and back to the elementary school.  All floats, cars, horses, etc. will be decorated for Christmas with decorations and lights. There is still room in the parade for you to participate.

At 6:30 p.m. will be the lighting of the Christmas Tree. At 7 p.m. Santa will be in his house in “The Locker” giving out treats and free pictures if you choose to have one taken with him. The pictures are sponsored by the New Castle Festivals and Morris Insurance Agency of New Castle. Also at 7 p.m. the Merrie Melodious Dulcimers will be performing in “The Locker.”

Many businesses will remain open late (8 p.m.) that night for you to shop. The Henry County Salvation Army will be in front of “The Locker” with a bell ringer and kettle for donations to help the less fortunate Henry County residents.

Also in “The Locker”, the New Castle Festivals Committee will have a table selling their cookbooks. They were just published in May of this year and have 350 recipes from many people in and around New Castle. They will make an excellent Christmas gift for  anyone.

The Festivals Committee is asking all individuals and businesses to put candles in their windows. We are also saving pull tabs from soda cans that we give to a cancer organization. As a fundraiser we are collecting used ink cartridges from computer printers. Any of the above can be dropped off anytime at Pearce Homestead Crafts and gifts 122 S. Main Street in New Castle.

We hope to see you at Christmas in New Castle on Friday, December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information call 845-4181 or www.henrycountyky.com.
