Come out and join us for Fall Fling

The ninth annual New Castle Fall Fling will be held this Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be located around the historic Henry County Courthouse. East Cross Main Street will be closed starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, until approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.

At 10 a.m., the arts and crafts, flea markets and food booths open. It is free to non-profit organizations to set up a booth and there are still spaces available. Also at 10 a.m., the children’s Halloween costume contest will begin. This contest will be for children ages newborn to 10-years old. Money will be given as prizes.

At 11 a.m., Two Journey the Kentucky Duo performs. They are southern gospel recording artist and multiple award winners. You can visit their website for more information at www.TwoJourneythekyduo.com.

At 1 p.m., the southern gospel group Trinity Heirs will perform. At 2:15 p.m., the Cutie Pie contest will start and at 2:30 p.m., the Little Prince and Princess Contest will be held. Wrapping up the pageants will be the Little Mr. and Ms. Fall Fling contest at 2:45 p.m. All pageants will take place on the court house steps.

At 2:30 p.m., Henry County’s own Silverwings Band will perform. Be sure to bring your lawn chair and listen to the country music.

New this year for the Fall Fling will be the registration of door prizes that will be given away beginning at 3:45 p.m. You don’t have to be present to win. You can register at the information booth located on the rear lawn of the Courthouse under the maroon Prewitt’s Funeral Home tent.

The New Castle Festival Committee will also be selling their cookbooks. The cookbooks consist of recipes from various people in and around the New Castle area. The cookbooks sell for $8 each and will be available at the information booth.

All day long activities include arts and crafts, flea markets, food booths, farmers market, live entertainment, children’s activities, raffles, city wide yard sales and much more.
