The Henry County Wildcat cross country team traveled to Goshen Saturday where North Oldham hosted the annual Rumble Through the Jungle cross country invitational meet at the Creasey-Mahan Nature Preserve.

Wildcat coach Ricky Drawbaugh saw continued improvement in his team with six runners setting personal records and four more setting season best times.

In the varsity girls’ race Lily Golden led the way with a time of 24:39 cutting 15 seconds off her time from last week at the Shelby County Invitational. Katie Sutherland cut 1:38 off her personal best time by finishing in 30:06.

In the Boys’ varsity race Josh Logsdon cut a further 29 seconds off his PR by finishing in 19:02. Logsdon cut about 30 seconds off his previous PR last week at Shelby County which means his time has improved by about a minute over the last two races.

Chase Slone ran a time of 20:28, which improved on last week’s time by 32 seconds and Brandon Handley ran a time of  20:46, which was 30 seconds faster than last week.

Drawbaugh was enthusiastic about the team’s continued improvement. “It was another great week of racing for the kids,” he said. “Josh Logsdon continues to impress me the most right now, being able to (set a personal record) by 30 seconds in each of the past two weeks without speed work. Chase and Brandon improved by 30 seconds over last week and Lily and Katie also had big improvements.

“All four middle school girls set (personal records). Sydney Amyx took 1:30 off last week’s time, Katherine Buckler took 2:15 off, Emily Slone and Danielle Nichter each took three minutes off their time. The boys’ middle school team also had a good race. Isaac Logsdon took 1:45 off his time and Andrew Landers and Keegan Kurtz ran about the same time as last week.”
