The WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. established in 1954 by WHAS-TV, raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children. One-hundred percent of each donation is returned to the community through grants to agencies, schools and hospitals that make lives better for special needs children in all 120 counties in Kentucky and more than 50 counties in Indiana.
Henry County is proud to participate in this fundraising effort. Year after year you will find volunteers, especially local fire departments, spending countless hours staging road blocks, knocking door to door, hosting events, or having scrumptious fish fries all in an effort to raise money for this incredible cause.
This year’s Crusade has already begun for many of our local fire department volunteers and they are working hard to prepare for the big upcoming weekend June 6 through June 8.
You’ll likely pass through road blocks or see smiling faces at your door all working hard to raise money for the Crusade.
The New Castle Fire Department is no exception. This Saturday, June 7 from 4 to 8 pm. they will host the 2008 Crusade for Children Fish Fry at the New Castle Fire Department. Come out and enjoy your choice of a one or two-piece fish dinner (includes fish, bread, cole slaw, beans, dessert and drink) or other a la carte items.
