Matt Doane of Smithfield was recently awarded the prestigious “Doane Builder of Man Award.” This award is given to the most outstanding University of Kentucky senior who most exemplifies the ideals and principles of FarmHouse Fraternity.
The recipient is nominated by the local chapter, who sends their name to an alumni board that chooses a winner out of the submitted nominations.
It is an international award given at the chapter level. The Doane Builder of Man Award is given in honor of one of the founding fathers of FarmHouse Fraternity, D. Howard “Daddy” Doane and is considered one of the most significant awards given by FarmHouse.
Matt has been secretary and president of the UK FarmHouse chapter. He currently serves as its chaplain. Matt will graduate Sunday from UK with a Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and international studies. He plans to attend the UK College of Law in the fall.
Matt is the son of Danny and Sandy Doane of Smithfield; and is the grandson of Wilbur and Sue Arington, and the late L.C. and Mildred Doane.
