For their senior project, a group of HCHS students chose to create a benefit for the Animal Shelter. On Saturday, they hosted an adoption event, accepted donations of money and items to use at the shelter, and educated children about humane treatment of animals through games and activities. They also auctioned three doghouses, two of which had been made by the students. Students involved included Breana Webb, Alex Morris, Bre Handley, Tyler Singleton, Kelsey Sanders, Lexie Bender, Jessica Holcomb, Dana Cauble, Landon New, Isaac Steverson, Ashley Craigmyle and Vernon Baker. Above, the McCoun family adopted Grimm, a hounddog mix who was the first dog to find a forever home at the event. At right, Breana Webb and Alex Morris took care of Merle, who had been sponsored for adoption and was offered free to a good home. Far right, Anna Martin left the event with a pink puppy dog painted on her cheek.
