EHS Governor’s Scholars

Two EHS students who were alternates for GSP learned recently that they, too, will attend the annual program.

Brenna Raisor, 17, of Eminence is the daughter of Amy Raisor and Dale Raisor. Her grandparents are Shirley Rucker and Nancy Raisor.

 

Why did you want to participate in the GSP program?

Because it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and earn scholarships.  I have heard nothing but things about the program.

What are you most looking forward to with the GSP program?

Meeting new people and getting the chance to experience college life away from home.

What do you hope to study in college?

Undecided.

What are your career plans after school?

Undecided.

What clubs or other activities do you participate in?

Softball, Sr. Beta, Pep Club, Spanish Club, Academic team, gifted and talented

What are some of your accomplishments?

Math Award for academic team 2010 & 2011; Leadership award for softball.

Ben Smith

Ben Smith, 17, of Bagdad is the son of Greg and Mary Ann Smith. His grandparents are the late Dr. and Mrs. George Smith, and Boyd and Mary Lou Sturdevant.

 

Why did you want to participate in the GSP program?

I thought it would be a great experience and opportunity to step out of my ‘comfort zone.’  I also thought it would be great to meet new people.  In addition to those reasons, my dad has taught in the program for 24 years and two of my older brothers attended it.  It’s kind of a family thing.

What are you most looking forward to with the GSP program?

Taking advantage of all the program has to offer.

What do you hope to study in college?

Animal science.

What are your career plans after school?

Become a beef geneticist or animal nutritionist while building up a farm of my own.

What clubs or other activities do you participate in?

Football, weightlifting, FCA, Spanish Club, Academic Team, Sr. Beta Club, Ag Club, Church youth group, YOCO, 4-H, and 4-H livestock judging.

What are some of your accomplishments?

2nd team all PAC; Selected for top-12-week in livestock judging for the state; Student of the Month; CIM; Highest social studies score on EHS academic team for 2011.
