Eminence High School Student of the Week: Katie Purnell

-A A +A

Katie is a senior at EHS.

What is your favorite subject?

English, I like to write. I like writing research papers. It’s interesting to learn about new subjects and prove something.

What are your plans after high school?

Take biochemistry at Georgetown and then go to medical school at UK. I want to be a pediatric oncologist and work with children with cancer. Children have an unadulterated joy and I want to be a part of that.

Do you participate in any school clubs or activities?

I am in the drama club, the academic team and I’m the manager of the volleyball team.

What do you do for fun?

I love to dance. Ride four wheelers. I like to read and listen to music.

What do you like to read?

Fiction.  A book I read in elementary school, Walk Two Moons, has always stuck with me because of the message: you can’t judge a man until you walk two moons in his moccasins.

What kind of music do you like?

I have an eclectic interest, but mostly country and contemporary Christian.

How would you describe yourself to a stranger?

I would like to think I am outgoing, funny and my humor has some sarcasm. I’m a strong Christian and I’ll do whatever I can to help someone.

Who would you like to thank?

My mom and dad. They are my pillars of strength. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them by my side and Jesus Christ.
