In a rematch of Eminence's 28-19 win over Brown High School just one week earlier, the Eminence Lady Warriors were unable to come away with another win over the Lady Bears Saturday night. This time around, Eminence came away four points short, losing 31-27.
Brown stuck two players on Rachel Raisor, one on Candace Wells and one on Kelli Hawkins, while letting the other roam free. Raisor, despite the double coverage, still led Eminence in scoring with 10 points. Hawkins finished with nine points, Wells scored seven and Samantha Congelton added one.
"I thought we played a good game, we just didn't make some critical shots," Eminence coach Carter Martin said. "We're getting better at shooting, but we aren't where we need to be yet."
Brown took the early lead and stayed just in front for a majority of the game. The Lady Bears held a 8-7 advantage following the first quarter, 14-11 after the second and 21-20 after the third.
With the loss, Eminence dropped to 2-12 for the season. The Lady Warriors defeated Riverside Christian (42-33) on Dec. 20 to go along with their Brown win.
They will be back in action this Thursday when they travel to Shelby County to take on the Lady Rockets, who are 9-5. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
