The Eminence Middle School football team opened the season Thursday with a 20-18 loss at home to Shelby East. Elijah Montero ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors.

On Saturday the Warriors hosted Trimble County and came away 32-12 winners.

Montero had both a kickoff and punt return for touchdowns.

Quarterback Braedin Hinkley also had an improved outing, connecting with Deandre Wright for a 45-yard touchdown pass.

“The week was really a good, competitive week for our program,” Coach Ray Ford said. “But we have a long ways to go. I love my team and I am certain we will only get better from this point forward. Fortunately for us, we will have the entire week to heal and prepare for a good Gallatin County team on Saturday.”
