Jason Clark Banta, 16, of Pleasureville is the son of Cecil and Phyllis Banta. His grandparents are the late Hillis and Ann Clark, and the late Ralph and Martha Banta.
Why did you want to participate in the GSP program?
I think it will be good preparation for college. I also like the idea of a concentrated study in one subject and the hands on experience you get at GSP.
What are you most looking forward to with the GSP program?
I am looking most forward to experiencing “college life” and getting to know other people with similar experiences and interests.
What do you hope to study in college?
Atmospheric Sciences or American History.
What are your career plans after school?
To pursue a career as a meteorologist or a high school history teacher.
What clubs or other activities do you participate in?
Future Business Leaders of America- Parliamentary Procedure, Pep Club, National Honor Society, BETA, Henry County Youth Coalition, FCA, Junior Class Officer, Kentucky Youth Assembly, MOVE, Friends of Rachel, Student Council and Pleasureville Baptist Church Youth Group.
What are some of your accomplishments?
I have received several awards through FBLA including the opportunity to compete at the national level in parliamentary procedures my Freshman year. I received a Certificate of Recognition for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership and I have been selected to serve as a Junior usher.
