By The Staff

For the third year in a row, Henry County residents will have the opportunity to visit their very own Community Health Fair. On Saturday April 19 from 9 am to 12 pm the Eminence Community Center will host a health fair for the residents of Henry County. Henry County Public Schools and Eminence Independent Schools including FRYSC, YSC and School Health Services in collaboration with the Henry County Health Department have organized a health event for the entire family. Individuals can receive free screenings including blood pressure and blood sugar by the Henry county EMS, bone density provided by Norton Healthcare, oxygen saturation levels through North Central Home Health Agency, and body fat analysis provided by Curves. In addition, for a $10 fee individuals can have their blood drawn for a complete lipid profile by the laboratory staff of Baptist Hospital Northeast. The lipid profile includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels. Individuals wishing to participate in this screening should be fasting and have had nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before the test. While supplies last, receive free bike helmets, water bottles, hand soap, and healthy snacks. Children can receive a free kid care ID from the Henry County Sheriffs Department, information about bicycle safety from the Henry County Health Department and demonstrations on fitness tips for children and teens from some local 4H participants. Adults will have the opportunity to learn about medication safety from Cooks Pharmacy, Jazzercise and Body Recall fitness programs, nutrition tips and tobacco facts from the Henry County Health Department, and much more. Approximately 30 booths will be set up by local health care professionals, businesses, and individuals offering valuable information on dental care, heart health, back care, eye care, nutrition, hand washing and much more. There will be something for everyone! Bring the entire family and gain valuable information to lead you and your family to healthier lifestyles! And while you're there, take a tour of the Eminence Community Center and see what's available right in your own community.
