The Henry County Public Library would like to thank the fine people of Henry County and the surrounding areas for a truly magical month.
Not only has this been one of the best Summer Reading Programs in our history, but this past June we also broke records for number of library visitors in a one month period and the number of items checked out during a one month period. We want to thank everyone that has come out to attend a program, check out books and movies, or use a computer during this busy time and encourage you to continue to tell others to do the same. On behalf of the library staff and Board of Directors, I wanted to thank our patrons for their continued support and we welcome the opportunity to serve you.
We also wanted to let everyone know that July marks our first month as a Public Library Workforce Center, and we will be offering technological training classes covering computing basics, online job searching, applications and resume assistance, and more. In addition, the library will be adding more computers and related equipment to make the classes and library computers more accessible to a greater number of people. We are expanding our resources to help people secure new jobs and improve their technical skills. This is being funded by an American Reinvestment and Recovery Act Broadband Technology Opportunities Program grant provided through the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration. The project is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and administered by the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.
