Henry County Sharpshooters compete at Brewer Invitational

The Henry County 4-H Sharpshooters YHEC Team had a strong showing in the Brewer Invitational at Mercer Gun Club on Saturday, April 20.  Colt McGuire was the high overall Junior and Jordan Campbell was the high overall Senior.  The Senior team swept their division, winning every event. 

YHEC, the Youth Hunter Education Challenge, tests the participants not only in shooting events, but also in safety and overall knowledge of hunting skills.  Events at the Brewer Invitational were shotgun, muzzleloader, archery, safety trail, orienteering, wildlife identification and hunter responsibility exam.

The next event for the YHEC team will be the Kentucky YHEC Championship held at Jabez May 25-26.  The seniors will attempt to win for the second consecutive year.


Junior Division

Colt McGuire

High overall Junior, 3rd safety trail, 2nd shotgun, 2nd archery, 1st orienteering, 1st wildlife ID, 1st responsibility exam.

Matthew Sharp

 1st shotgun, 3rd wildlife ID.

2nd overall, 1st safety trail, 3rd shotgun, 3rd archery, 2nd black powder, 2nd wildlife ID, 2nd responsibility exam.

Justin Yount

3rd overall, 1st archery, 3rd safety trail.

Jared Yount

4th overall, 2nd safety trail, 2nd archery, 3rd wildlife ID.

Blake Jones

1st shotgun, 6th overall.

Devin Hagan

8th overall.
