Allright American Idol fans and aspiring singers, listen up. You could get your chance for your 15 minutes of fame ... or infamy.
The latest round of audition sites and times has been announced. Big cities like San Francisco, Kansas City, Salt Lake City and more will host auditions in July and August.
But we learned last week that the popular talent contest will hold a round of tryouts in Louisville this year.
On July 19 and 20, prospective auditioners can gather at a location, which has yet to be announced, to get armbands for the auditions.
From there, the initial auditions, in front of the show’s producers — not our beloved judges Simon, Randy and Paula — at Freedom Hall.
The second set of eliminations will be held in September at Churchill Downs, this time with those beloved judges.
Sadly, I’m a bit too old for the tryouts (the age range is 16-28), and while I do love to sing, it’s been awhile since my days with Open Mic Night at the Baja Bean Company (I once managed to sing a duet with my mother ... who forgot the words).
But some of you probably can try out, and I’m guess already have plans to do so.
I certainly hope the Louisville area, and any Henry County residents who make it onto the auditions show (and hopefully to Hollywood Week and beyond!), don’t put us on the map for all the wrong reasons. I think we all remember William Hung and Kenneth Briggs, the contestant Simon Cowell compared to a Bush Baby.
Let’s face it, we do tune in to see some of the goofballs. But we also tune in to see just what kind of talent will come up - I for one am still blown away by Sundance Head (season six) and his audition.
I know there’s talent in Henry County, I’ve had the pleasure of hearing some of it.
So, if you do plan on going to the auditions, let us know. We’d love to do a story about your experience.
