Layoffs surprised some long-time employees in Smithfield

-A A +A
By Christopher Brooke

As is common in corporate America, a long-time employer in Henry County decided to make a change and that reduced the work that flows through its local plant.

The Safety Kleen facility here takes products that would otherwise go to the landfill, like old household cleaners or paints, out of the waste stream and turns them into a new product.

At the Henry County facility, several employees would monitor the banks of equipment where the materials get loaded in for shredding and gets mixed with liquids.
