We are pleased to announce that on June 14th, the New Castle Patriotic Festival will once again be honoring World War II Veterans for their service during WWII. This year, those WWII Veterans participating in the festival will serve as Grand Marshals during the parade being held at 11 a.m. Following the parade, presentations will be made on the courthouse square to these American heroes of the greatest generation.
From noon to 2 p.m. the public will have the opportunity to meet these WWII Veterans at the New Castle First Baptist Church, located at 47 East Cross Main. There will also be a small display of WWII memorabilia for visitors to see.
This may be one of the largest gatherings of WWII Vets in Kentucky in recent years. Participating in the festival will be WWII vets who battled their way across France into Germany, vets who fought in the Pacific, and other vets who flew over the “hump” in the China Burma India Theatre of WWII.
As America celebrates the 70th anniversary of D-Day on June 6 this year, let’s honor these WWII vets while we can. They are leaving us at a rate of 600 – 1,000 per day. Please come out and honor these American heroes in New Castle on June 14th, and enjoy all that the New Castle Patriotic Festival has to offer.
