Arts and crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Chamber of commerce
The Patrick Henry Award dinner, honoring Martha Tarry Simpson, will be held Tuesday, May 17.

Church services
Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.
Quakers (The Religious Society of Friends, also known as “Friends”) will meet for unprogrammed worship every Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. beginning Saturday, May 7 at Port Royal Methodist Church. New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids at 10:45 a.m. will meet on Sunday, May 8. Children birth through 5th grades are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.
Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.
Cropper Baptist Church Bazaar will be held from 8 am. to 5 p.m. at Cropper Ruritan Club  on Saturday May 14. Booths available for rent inside and out. Set ups begin at 7 a.m. For more info call Sandy Powell at 220-3322. Proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Celebrate Homecoming at Grubridge Community Church on Sunday, May 15. Meal will be at 12:45 p.m and regular services held at 2:30 p.m.
Cropper Baptist Church will be having a Spaghetti dinner with proceeds going to St. Jude’s Hospital on Sunday, May 22 following morning worship service.

Civic organizations
Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry County Public Library every Monday.

Clubs and organizations
Henry County Saddle Club will host a horse show at the Henry County Fairgrounds Ag pavilion Saturday, May 7, with sign ups beginning at 4 p.m. This will be the first show of the season with special Derby events. Negative Coggins required. Entry fees are $4 members, $5 non-members, plus $1 ground fee per horse. For more info call (502) 706-0019.

Community services
Low cost spay/neuter clinic will be held for dogs, cats and rabbits on Saturday, May 7 and Saturday, May 21. All animals must be pre-registered. Call Humane Society of Oldham County at (502) 222-7537 to register.
The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.
Bundle up your newspapers, aluminium, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, 7 days a week.

Eastern Elementary SBDM council will meet at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, in the school library.
The Henry County Middle School SBDM meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room on Wednesday, May 4.

Henry County Farmers Market is open for the season and runs through the end of October, Wendesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Henry County Courthouse.

Health and fitness

Senior Club will meet at the Henry County Library from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 10. Bingo, crafts, snacks and fun.

Open house
A celebration Open House  will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 19, at Henry County EMS, 716 S. Property Rd., Eminence, for National EMS Week.  Food and drinks, station and ambulance tours, door prizes, kids activities and much more!

Political groups
Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Relay for Life
M&M Relay For Life team will be having a Derby Breakfast at the 4H building from 8 to noon on Saturday, May 7. All proceeds to benefit Henry County Relay For Life.
New Castle Baptist Church is having an Avon Party at the church from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 12. All proceeds will benefit Henry County Relay For Life.
Homestead Relay For Life team will be having a yard sale beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 14, at 241 S. Main St., New Castle with all proceeds going to Relay For Life.
Henry County Scrappers will be having a Pampered Chef party at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 19, with all proceeds benefiting Henry County Relay For Life.
Henry County Relay For Life Poker Run hosted by Hussey Copper Team, will be held Saturday, May 21 with signups being held from 10 a.m. til noon. $10 each bike/ $5 rider. Ride begins at Scriber’s Station in Eminence and will ride approximately 100 miles.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Henry County Food Services will be having their annual Tractor Drive on Saturday, May 28, with all proceeds to benefit Henry County Relay For Life. Please contact William Potts at (502) 220-0431 for more information.

Senior citizens
AARP Drivers safety Course will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at the Henry County Senior Center, Wednesday, May 18. For more information call (502) 845-4464.

Support groups
Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, May 6. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 8, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.
A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.
AA meeting at 8 p.m. at the Pleasureville City Hall building Saturday, May 7. These meetings will be non smoking.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting  at 11 a.m., Monday, May 9, at New Castle Christian Church.  Please enter through the green door.
