Arts & Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Blood drive

New Castle Christian Church is hosting a blood drive in Trent Hunter and Clint Diven’s honor from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, at the New Castle Christian Church gym, 260 S. Main Street, New Castle.

Church events

Old Time Camp meeting Revival at Crossroads Lighthouse Church, 220 Clear Creek Rd, begins on Sunday, Aug. 7, and runs through Friday, Aug. 12. 10:30 a.m. morning service and 7 p.m. evening services. Lunch served daily. Pastor is Rev. Paul Harvey. Contact (502) 834-0720 for more information.

Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m., every Wednesday. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.
Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., every Tuesday, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.

New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the 5th grade are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.

Civic Groups

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry Christian Church (summer only) every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Marlene’s Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Community Service

Tri-County Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Campebllsburg State Police meeting room located at 160 Citation Lane just off the I-71 exit in Campbellsburg. The public is invited to attend.
The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, seven days a week.


The Henry County Middle School SBDM will meet at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the conference room.

Tri-County Christian Homeschool group  will have a planning meeting at the Henry County Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18. Anyone welcome. For more information please contact Christy Coleman at (502) 845-6088.

The Pleasureville School Alumni will hold their reunion on Sunday, August 14 at the Henry County Middle School. Registration at 12:30 p.m. and buffet at 1 p.m. Cost is $16 per person. Henry County Adult Education GED classes will begin Tuesday, Aug. 2. Classes are three days  per week for four weeks. Call 845-0307 to register.

Health & Fitness

Free exercise classes demonstrating Body Recall a program for the over 50 crowd that improves range of motion, circulation, flexibility and balance will be held at the Henry County Extension Office from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

New Castle Christian Church has started “Wednesday Walkers” for anyone wanting to walk for exercise and not do it alone from 6 to 7 p.m. Call Tammy for more information at (502) 667-2982 for confirmation and location.

Library Happenings

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, Aug. 5. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 6, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions, will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Pleasureville Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 6. These meetings will be non smoking.
