Arts & Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Church Services

New Castle United Methodist Church is sponsoring  a chili cook off /chili dinner and gospel sing from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, March 3. Chili, sandwiches, hotdogs, dessert and drinks. Presale tickets are $8 and $4. The gospel sing will be from 4 to 9 p.m. If you need more information please call (502) 845-4181.

Quakers (The Religious Society of Friends, also known as “Friends”) meets for unprogrammed worship every Saturday at 4 p.m., at Port Royal Methodist Church. This informal group is under the guidance of Lexington Friends Meeting. Contact Betsy Packard: dogbydog123@aol.com or (502) 529-1598.

Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.

Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in the Ramada Inn meeting room.
New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the fifth grade are invited to participate in this fun and creative learning group.

Civic Organizations

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at Henry Christian Church every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Marlene’s Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Pleasureville Masonic Lodge No. 410 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Lodge Hall, 105 Main St., Pleasureville.

Community Services

The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, seven days a week.

Eastern Elementary will hold their SBDM council meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the school library.

The Henry County Middle School SBDM council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the conference room on.
The Eminence SBDM council meeting is held the last Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Henry County Board of Education — 7 p.m., third Monday of every month at various locations.

Eminence Independent Board of Education — 6:30 p.m., third Tuesday of every month at the Board of Education office unless otherwise announced.

Health & Wellness

The Henry County Diabetic Coalition will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month, at the Henry County Fairgrounds 4-H building. For more information, contact Mona Huff at 845-6849.

Library Happenings

Free family movie matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Henry County Public Library.

Story Time for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers at Henry County Library at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5.

Senior Club, bingo, games, crafts, snacks, wii and fun for senior citizens at Henry County Library at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 6.

Also on Tuesday, March 6, at Henry County Library, new movie Tuesday, “J. Edgar.” Film is rated R. No one under 18 will be admitted.

Baby and Me for infants and toddlers and their caregivers at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Henry County Library.

Story time for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers at Henry County Library at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9.

Lego Club from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Henry County Library. All ages are welcome.

Political Groups

The Republican County Convention will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. All Henry County registered Republicans are invited to and encouraged to attend.

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., second Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, March 2. This group and Al-Anon will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Eminence Methodist Church. All meetings are nonsmoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drug or other addictions, will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Pleasureville Methodist Church on Saturday, March 3. These meetings will be nonsmoking.

AA meeting  at 11 a.m., Monday, March 5, at New Castle Christian Church.  Please enter through the green door.

Caregiver support group will meet at 5:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month, for people taking care of someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Call 1-877-224-1349, Ext. 140 for info.

Youth Sports

Youth Baseball and Girls softball sign ups are from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 3; from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 7; and 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 10, at the 4-H Center at Henry County Fairgrounds.
