Arts & Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Church Events

Adults, kids of all ages, families are invited to attend from 6 to 9 p.m. New Castle Christian Church Monday July 25 through Friday, July 29 for an organized Free Family Mission Trip where you will be helping  those in need in the New Castle area; whether its cooking a meal for a family, helping mow yards, painting or making crafts for nursing home residents, you will be challenged to show God’s love during this family mission trip. Revival at Elmburg Baptist Church July 24-27 at 7 p.m. Sunday will be an 11 a.m. service. Rev. Bob Marcaurelle will be preaching. Special music each night. For more information contact Pastor David (502) 689-8075 for more information.

Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m., every Wednesday. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.

Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., every Tuesday, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.

New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the 5th grade are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.

Civic Groups

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry Christian Church (summer only) every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Marlene’s Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Community Services

The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, 7 days a week.

The Henry County Family Resource and Youth Services Center will hold their advisory council meeting at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 26. It will be at the Henry County Extension Office. Please call (502) 845-0334 or (502) 845-8608 to reserve your spot.

Education

The Henry County Middle School will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room.  

Harvest Showcase and Lunch at the Farmer’s Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 (breakfast served at 7:30 a.m.) at the Henry County Fairgrounds. No admission charge, free music, petting barn, children’s games.

Farmers Market

Henry County Farmers Market is open for the season and runs through the end of October, Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Henry County Courthouse.

Health & Fitness

Free exercise classes demonstrating Body Recall a program for the over 50 crowd that improves range of motion, circulation, flexibility and balance will be held at the Henry County Extension Office from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 am on July 15, 22, 29, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Fight the effects of gravity and weak postural muscles with Bones for Life! Build core muscles and bone density, stand taller and move with more grace. Political Groups

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, July 22. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions, will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, July 22, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Pleasureville Methodist Church on Saturday, July 23. These meetings will be non smoking.

AA meeting  at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18, at New Castle Christian Church.  Please enter through the green door.

Caregiver support group will meet at 5:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month, for people taking care of someone with dementia or Alzheimers. Call 1-877-224-1349, ext 140 for info.
