Arts and Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Church Services
Henry Christian Church will be hosting the June Gathering of the Louisville Emmaus Community. The gathering will be at 7:27 p.m., Friday, June 10.
Quakers (The Religious Society of Friends, also known as “Friends”) meets for unprogrammed worship every Saturday afternoon at 4, at Port Royal Methodist Church. This informal group is under the guidance of Lexington Friends Meeting. Contact Betsy Packard: dogbydog123@aol.com or (502) 529-1598.
Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m., every Wednesday. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.
Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., every Tuesday, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.
New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the 5th grade are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.
“The Big Apple Adventure” VBS will be held June 13-17 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly. Call Rev. Travis Sheehan with transportation questions at 930-0300.

Civic Organizations
Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry Christian Church (summer only) every Monday.
The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Marlene’s Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Community Services
Low cost spay/neuter clinics for dogs, cats and rabbits to be held at the Humane Society of Oldham County in La Grange on Saturday, June 11 and 25. All animals must be pre-registered. Call (502) 222-7537 to register.
The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.
Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, 7 days a week.

Education
The Retired Teachers of Henry County will have their annual picnic on June 14 at the Henry County Extension Office. Meats, drinks and utensils will be provided and will begin at noon.

Farmers Market
Henry County Farmers Market is open for the season and runs through the end of October, Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Henry County Courthouse.

Health and Fitness

Fight the effects of gravity and weak postural muscles with Bones for Life! Build core muscles and bone density, stand taller and move with more grace. Library Happenings
First Day of Summer Reading 2011 at the Henry County Library. Registration begins with Super Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 11. Games, crafts, prizes, free books and more.
Folktales from around the world with storyteller Bonnie Strassell at 11 a.m.  All ages are welcome. This is a special Summer Reading Program.
Computer Basics for adults at 2 p.m., June 14, at the Henry County Library. Also, New Movie Tuesday at 6 p.m. Film is rated PG-13 so no one under the age of 13 will be admitted. Snacks are provided.
Story Time for children ages 2 to 6 at 10 a.m., June 15, at the Henry County Library. Stories, songs, games and more. Also, Family Movie Matinee at 2 p.m. Snacks are provided.
Adventures in art for all ages at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 16,  at the Henry County Library. Registration required. Also, Third Thursday Family Movie at 6:30 p.m.
Silly Safaris Live animal show with funologist Amazon Jungle John at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, June 17 at the Henry County Library.

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Relay for Life
Henry County Baseball is having a car wash at New Castle Christian Church to raise money for Relay For Life.
Pleasureville Christian Church will be hosting a Relay For Life Pasta luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, June 12. Pasta, salad, bread, dessert and drink for $5.
Henry County Relay For Life will be held with opening ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m. at the Henry County High School Track on Friday June 24. Music by Six Miles South and Silverwings, luminary ceremony, food, drinks, activities and much more!

Support Groups
Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, June 10. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.
A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, June 10, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.
