Arts & crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.

Chamber of Commerce
The Patrick Henry Award dinner, honoring Martha Tarry Simpson, will be held Tuesday, May 17. Tickets must be reserved by Thursday, May 12.

Church Services
Quakers (The Religious Society of Friends, also known as “Friends”) meets for unprogrammed worship every Saturday afternoon at 4, at Port Royal Methodist Church. This informal group is under the guidance of Lexington Friends Meeting. Contact Betsy Packard: dogbydog123@aol.com or (502) 529-1598.
Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 11. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.
Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.
Cropper Baptist Church Bazaar will be held from 8 am. to 5 p.m. at Cropper Ruritan Club  on Saturday May 14. Booths available for rent inside and out. Set ups begin at 7 a.m. For more info call Sandy Powell at 220-3322. Proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure club for kids at 10:45 a.m. will meet on Sunday, May 15. Children birth through 5th grades are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.
Celebrate Homecoming at Grubridge Community Church on Sunday, May 15. Meal will be at 12:45 p.m and regular services held at 2:30 p.m.

Cropper Baptist Church will be having a Spaghetti dinner with proceeds going to St. Jude’s Hospital on Sunday, May 22 following morning worship service.

Civic Organizations
Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry County Public Library every Monday.

Youth Coalition invites youth ages 18 and under to their Video Gaming Corner at Celebration Kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14. Play x-box and Wii games for free or pay $2 for a chance to win an iPod touch by earning the highest margin of victory on Madden 11. Gamestop giftcards will also be awarded for second and third place. Must be present to win. Admission to Celebration Kids is $10 per carload. Community Services
Low cost spay/neuter clinic will be held for dogs, cats and rabbits on Saturday, May 21. All animals must be pre-registered. Call Humane Society of Oldham County at (502) 222-7537 to register.
The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.
Bundle up your newspapers, aluminium, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, 7 days a week.

The Campbellsburg Elementary School SBDM Council will meet at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 19, in the school library.
New Castle Elementary SBDM council will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, May 23.

Farmers Market
Henry County Farmers Market is open for the season and runs through the end of October, Wendesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Henry County Courthouse.

Free computer class “keyboarding basics” will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 12 at the Henry County Library.
Baby and Me for babies up to age 2 will be held at Henry County Library at 10 a.m., Friday, May 13.
Lego Club for all ages will be held at the Henry County Library at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.  All ages welcome.

Open House
A celebration Open House  will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 19, at Henry County EMS, 716 S. Property Rd., Eminence, for National EMS Week.  Food and drinks, station and ambulance tours, door prizes, kids activities and much more!

Henry County Republican Party — 7 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month, at the Henry County Board of Education Building.

Relay for Life
New Castle Baptist Church is having an Avon Party at the church from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 12. All proceeds will benefit Henry County Relay For Life.
Homestead Relay For Life team will be having a yard sale beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 14, at 241 S. Main St., New Castle with all proceeds going to Relay For Life.
Henry County Scrappers will be having a Pampered Chef party at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 19, with all proceeds benefiting Henry County Relay For Life.
Henry County Relay For Life Poker Run hosted by Hussey Copper Team, will be held Saturday, May 21 with signups being held from 10 a.m. til noon. $10 each bike/ $5 rider. Ride begins at Scriber’s Station in Eminence and will ride approximately 100 miles.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Campbellsburg Christian Church will have a Cookout immediately following morning service for Relay For Life on Sunday, May 22.

Senior Citizens
AARP Drivers safety Course will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at the Henry County Senior Center. For more information call (502) 845-4464.

Support Groups
Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, May 13. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.
A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.
AA meeting at 8 p.m. at the Pleasureville City Hall building Saturday, May 14. These meetings will be non smoking.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting  at 11 a.m., Monday, May 16, at New Castle Christian Church.  Please enter through the green door.
