Arts & Crafts

Free adult scrapbooking offered at the Eminence Community Life Center from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursdays.
Pleasureville United Methodist Church will have a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at the church. The cost is $6 which includes sausage, drink and all you can eat pancakes.

Henry Christian Church will host the “Josh Martin Band” in concert at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11.

Drennon Christian Church hosts The Andy Griffith Bible Study at 6 p.m., every Wednesday. Come join for dinner, fun and a laid back Bible Study.

Grace Fellowship of La Grange will hold midweek services at 6:30 p.m., every Tuesday, in the Ramada Inn meeting room.

New Castle Christian Church’s Adventure Club for Kids meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Children through the 5th grade are invited to participate  in this fun and creative learning group.

Civic Organizations

Eminence Rotary Club meets at noon at the Henry Christian Church (summer only) every Monday.

The New Castle Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at Marlene’s Cozy Corner Restaurant in New Castle.

Pleasureville Masonic Lodge #410 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at their Lodge Hall, 105 Main Street, Pleasureville.

The Campbellsburg Woman’s Club will meet on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m. at Campbellsburg City Hall. Please let hostess, Pepper McKee, know if you are unable to attend.

Community Services

Low cost spay/neuter clinics for dogs, cats, rabbits will be held at the Humane Society of Oldham County in La Grange on Saturday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept.24. All animals must be pre-registered. Call (502) 222-7537 to register.

The mobile food pantry visits Henry County from 3-6 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The gates at the Henry County Fairgrounds open at 2:45 p.m. Please bring ID or recent mail to confirm address — must live in Henry County.

Bundle up your newspapers, aluminum, plastics, etc., and take to County Road Barn at 714 Property Road, seven days a week.


Eastern Elementary will have its SBDM council meeting at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the school library.

The HCMS SBDM council meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Eminence Alumni Association will meet on Saturday, Sept. 10, in the Board of Education Conference Room at noon.

The Eminence SBDM council meeting is held the last Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Family Reunions

The annual Clements Bottom reunion will be held at the Clements family home on Saturday, Sept. 10. Picnic lunch at noon. Everyone welcome. Call (502) 845-5093 for more information.

The James Family reunion will be held at the Henry County 4H building at the fairgrounds at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11. Bring a dish and old pictures.

The Ivers Family Reunion will be held a the Stratton Center in Shelbyville with a potluck at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11.

Henry County Farmers Market is open for the season and runs through the end of October, Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Henry County Courthouse.

Free computer class at 10:30 a.m. at the Henry County Library on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Beginners are welcome!
Free Computer Class- Using Microsoft Word at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Henry County Library. Some computer experience  is required.

LEGO Club will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Henry County Library.

Brown Bag Book Club will meet at noon at the Henry County Library on Monday, Sept. 12. Please bring a sack lunch and discuss “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neal Hurston. Drinks and desserts provided.

Story Hour will be Monday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. for ages 2 and up.

Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous meet at 8 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church on Friday, Sept. 9. This group, along with Al-Anon, will also meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, at Henry County Public Library; and at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Eminence Methodist Church. All of these meetings are non-smoking.

A New Direction in Life, a Christian support group for alcohol/drugs or other addictions, will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at First Baptist Church, Eminence.

AA meeting at 8 p.m. at Pleasureville Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 10. These meetings will be non smoking.

AA meeting  at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at New Castle Christian Church. Please enter through the green door.
