Merle Brewer died Feb. 11, 2012. 

Mr. Brewer was born on Oct. 13, 1931, in Carroll County to the late Ryland Pratt and Ruth Dawkins Brewer. Merle served his country from 1953-1961 as a corporal in the artillery. Merle, while serving his country, earned the following medals -- National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupational Medal (Germany), and Good Conduct Medal.
