Ninth Annual Jonathan Adams Memorial 5K Run and one-mile Walk this Monday

The 9th Annual Jonathan Adams Memorial Run/Walk will be held this Monday — Memorial Day — starting at Eminence’s pool parking lot.

The one-mile walk will start at 9 a.m., followed by a 5K run at around 9:30. The cost for participation is $10, and t-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered. There will also be door prizes that are supplied by many area businesses that sponsor the event each year. Proceeds go towards the Crusade for Children.

Originally, a group of local runners hosted a run/walk each year with the proceeds going to the Crusade for Children, but after the tragic death of young Jonathan Adams, it was decided to give the event a name in his honor. The Jonathan Adams 5K started in 2000.

Jonathan was an elementary student at Eminence Independent Schools when he passed away from injuries suffered in a car accident in 1999. Prior to his death, he and his family had always been heavily involved with the fire department and their work in fundraising and collecting for the Crusade for Children.
