All Henry County farmers and landowners are reminded that the 2013 Phase I Application Period is now open.

From now, through 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, the Henry County Extension Office will have the producer applications available.  After June 18, no more applications can be accepted for the 2013 Kentucky Agriculture Development Fund CAIP Program in Henry County.

As soon as possible after that date, all funds will be allocated to the highest scorers on the uniform producer application, with a maximum allocation per successful producer applicant of $2,500 as a 50 percent cost share reimbursement for a completed eligible project and proof of attendance at a sanctioned educational program.

The Henry County Extension Office is located at 2151 Campbellsburg Road, New Castle.  We are about two miles north of the Courthouse in New Castle on U.S. 421.  Our phone number is (502) 845-2811.  Our office hours are 8 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The uniform producer application asks for contact information including name, farm serial number (your FSA number), Tax ID, mailing address and farm address, and phone number. There are nine questions  relating to your historical status in the Phase I cost share program, your farming operation itself, and your historical dependence on Tobacco.

Some questions are simple yes or no responses, such as question No. 9:  “Do you have a completed Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Act Plan for the farm for which you are requesting CAIP funds on file at your conservation district office?” For questions about the AWQA, you may contact the Henry County Conservation District Office at (502) 845-2890.  A quick way to get this done, if you don’t already have a plan on file, is to visit conservation.ky.gov/Pages/Agriculture WaterQuality.aspx, complete the online AWQP, and deliver a copy to the Conservation District Office just north of New Castle.

A total of $243,366.30 is available to the Henry County County Agricultural Investment Program this year through the Kentucky Agriculture Development Fund.  Administering the program for 2013 in Henry County is the Henry County Cattleman’s Association.  They have once again contracted with Laraine Staples to be the Administrator.  Staples will conduct office hours on Tuesdays at the Extension Office, but questions about the application process or the investment areas may be answered by staff at the Extension Office Monday through Friday each week.

Remember, the deadline for Producer Applications for the 2013 CAIP Program is 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 18.

The June meeting of the Henry County Cattleman’s Association will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the Henry County Extension Office.  The Cattleman’s Board of Directors has an outstanding meal and program planned for you.  In addition to the popular reports from Dr. Pryor, FFA, FSA, NRCS and Extension, we’ll have Warren Beeler, Kentucky Department of Agriculture Director of Policy, as our featured speaker.  Warren is a nationally known expert in animal agriculture.

A sponsored beef supper is on the menu, so contact us at 845-2811 at the Henry County Extension Office to reserve your spot.
