The availability of a public library is essential to any civilized society. The quality and use of that library is very telling about the nature of the people in that society. Henry County has much to be proud of in this regard. Not only do we have a library that provides a multitude of services; but our residents are in ever increasing numbers taking advantage of those services.
Under the direction of librarian, Joe Schweiss, our library has expanded services and increased patronage. Those of us who have been regulars at the library over the years have seen an expansion of offerings that provides something for everyone. The parking lot is frequently full. The building is always bustling with people checking out books or movies, using computers, researching, attending meetings and classes or taking advantage of the library’s many other services.
I want to thank the library staff for the wonderful job they do. I also, want to thank the head librarian and the library board of their foresight in beginning the process to grow the library. Libraries of the future will likely provide many services not historically associated with them today. However, libraries will continue to be the heart and soul of the community. Our library serves us well and planning for growth is the right thing to do.
