In 2010, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, for the first time, issued awards to a variety of individuals and businesses in Henry County. The awards recognized those folks for their unique contributions to the county.
Those awards return again in 2011.
Outstanding Emergency Services Personnel —All emergency personnel, paid and volunteer, are eligible for this award, which recognizes the winner’s role in the county’s emergency services.
Oustanding Educator - Offered in recognition of the importance of education in the community and the desire to publicly recognize an educator employed in the county by either of our two school systems. The nominees must be a teacher, administrator or staff person.
Outstanding Business Person - meant to recognize a person who owns, operates or is active in the management of a business in Henry County, and whose business and personal conduct is a credit to themselves, their company, their employees and their community (must be in business at least 3 years and be active in the community and Chamber affairs).
Outstanding Farmer - The recipient must own, operate or be in the active management of a Henry County Farm, with primary income generated by farming. The family should reside on the farm and follow sound farming conservation practices.
Outstanding Chamber Member - This award recognizes those who have sacrificed personal and business time for the betterment of their work with the Chamber, and must have at least 3 years of service to the Chamber.
Outstanding Citizen — Similar to the Patrick Henry Award, this award is for a person who has voluntarily and unselfishly served the county over many years, and contributed to the county’s positive image.
Outstanding Business Beautification — This award will be given to a county business that has completed renovation or redesign of an existing property to enhance the overall look or appeal of the building. The work must have been completed within the last three years.
