Henry County Relay For Life was held on June 21 at the Henry County High School track. This year’s event was a great success raising close to $70,000 falling only $1500 short of the overall goal. Many teams participated in Relay For Life to show support and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Of the $70,000 raised two of Henry County’s industrial teams , Hussey Copper and The All Team from Eminence Speaker brought in a whopping $30,000 for ACS! Congratulations to these two teams for tremendous effort and hard work. Every team who participated deserves recognition for their efforts, time and commitments in fighting this battle. Henry County Relay For Life would not be successful without the continued hard work of all those who participate in the event and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Awards were also given to Eastern Elementary for being the top school fundraising team and to New Castle Methodist Church for being the top church fundraising team. Many teams chose to also participate in themed decorations for their campsite and recognized for their creative ideas was the Henry County High School Team!
Throughout the evening teams and attendees participated in many fun activities such as Project Relay Runway, Cheese ball toss game, Ping Pong Shake, dancing, Hula Hoop contest, and lots more! A variety of food was also available as well as delicious homemade ice cream and yummy desserts. Survivors of cancer were honored in a special ceremony during the opening of the event and later, a heartwarming luminary ceremony took place to honor those fighting the battle and remember those who lost theirs. A fun time was had by all while helping to raise money to find a cure to end this disease!
