New Castle 37, Eastern 0: The New Castle Chiefs defeated the Eastern Colts, 37-0, on Saturday in the varsity division of the Henry County Youth Football League.
During the first quarter, Nick Riggins came up with a fumble recovery; Gavin Jameson scored on a 52-year run and the 2-point conversion was a pass from Cameron Sanders to Jameson; and Isaiah Raisor had a fumble recovery. During the second quarter, Ethan Tuggle scored on a 45-yard run and Andrew Mahoney had a kick recovery to put the Chiefs ahead 14-0 at the half.
During the third quarter, Tuggle scored on a 40-yard run and the extra point was good by Tuggle; Andrew Nix had a fumble recovery; and Tuggle scored on a 25-yard run, and Jameson scored the extra point. During the fourth quarter, Tuggle had a kick recovery; and Jameson scored on a 52-yard run, and Sanders scored the extra point.
Tuggle finished with 165 yards rushing, 24 yards receiving. Jameson finished with 171 yards rushing and 19 yards receiving. Tuggle, Jameson and Tomlinson led New Castle with four tackles each. Several Chiefs had three.
Campbellsburg 20, Eminence 6: The Campbellsburg Bengals defeated the Eminence Redskins, 20-6, in the varsity division of the HCYFL.
The Redskins scored first on a 15-yard run by Austin Perry. The Bengals scored on their first possession with a 4-yard TD run by Tyler Robbins. Robbins also added an extra point with the run conversion. The Bengals were on top at the half 7-6.
The Bengals scored on their second possession of the second half with Cameron Johnson on a 5-yard quarterback sneak. Seth Allgeier added the run conversion. The final score came from Bodie Clark on a 15-yard run. Conversion failed. The defense was led by Clark with nine tackles and two sacks, while Ryan Abney had nine tackles and one sack. Also, Ethan McCleskey had five tackles, Corey Williamson with two sacks and Timothy Haag had five tackles and one and a half sacks.
New Castle 13, Eastern 0: The New Castle Chiefs defeated the Eastern Colts, 13-0, on Saturday in the junior varsity division of the HCYFL.
During the first quarter, Noah McGhee recovered a fumble and Taylor Raisor scored on a 50-yard run to put New Castle head 6-0 at the half. During the third quarter, Raisor scored on a 50-yard run and ran in the extra points.
Campbellsburg 12, Eminence 0: The Campbellsburg Bengals defeated the Eminence Redskins, 12-0, in the junior varsity division.
The Bengals’ offense was led by Brandon Tindle with 75 yards rushing. Zack Foree added 56 yards rushing and a 4-yard touchdown pass to Justin Edens. Also, Trey Purvis finished with 31 yards rushing and a touchdown. Lanson Morgan added 26 yards rushing.
The Bengals’ defense was led by Purvis with eight tackles and an interception. Tyler Boyer, Tindle, Clayton Sutherland, Gabriel Becerra and Chance Morris finished with three tackles each. Also, Sutherland had a fumble recovery and DJ Winburn recovered an onside kick for the winning Bengals.
