The Friends for Michael 5k run/walk was held Saturday. The run/walk, which began in front of Henry County High School, went out to the Henry County Fairgrounds and back to the high school where it finished on the track.
The race proceeds go to help those with spinal chord injuries.
This year 53 runners and walkers participated in the race and awards were given to the top 3 runners overall and in each age category.
The race capped off a busy couple of weeks for the group. After holding their annual golf scramble, the group learned that the final phase of the Michael Brent all-accessible playground would be installed and completed. The work on the playground wrapped up Thursday at the Henry County Recreation and Services Park. Memorial bricks will be installed at the shelter next to the playground in the spring.
Proceeds from the various activities sponsored by the group will also go to help area residents with spinal chord injuries and for spinal chord injury research.
