An unpleasant witch’s brew of illnesses is making Halloween week scarier than usual for local school students and their parents.
Local officials say they suspect a triple whammy — stomach virus, the flu and strep throat — are responsible for increased absences in local schools.
Eminence Independent Schools Superintendent Sonny Fentress said there were more than 60 absences Monday following a fairly quiet start to the year.
