By Cathy Toole

The State 4-H Shooting Sports Camp will be held from Wednesday, March 30, through Saturday, April 2, at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camp, in Jabez.

The camp is for youth ages 9 – 13.  Certified instructors will be presenting classes and in charge of all shooting ranges.

Each camper will learn responsible and safe use of firearms and how to shoot in the six disciplines of the shooting sports program. They are:  rifle, trap, archery, pistol, black powder and hunter challenge.  Additional program highlights for the camp include: night hikes, hunter education, survival skills, wild animals, heritage cooking, nature crafts, night programs, campfires and animal track identification.

The cost of the camp is $100.  All equipment and ammunition will be provided.  Campers will only need to bring ear and eye protection.
The space for this camp is limited to 120 statewide to ensure small classes.

The enrollment is on a first come first serve basis, so it is important that the registration forms are turned into the Henry County Cooperative Extension Service by Feb. 11.  If you would like a registration form faxed or mailed to your home please call the office at 845-2811. The camp requires that one adult per every five campers must attend from a county to chaperone.

If a parent would like to attend with their child or have any questions please contact Cathy.
4-H Photography Show at the Library
The 4-H Photography Club has their work on view at the Henry County Library through the end of this month.  There are over 50 photos on exhibit that members have taken since the club began meeting this year.  I encourage you to stop by and check out the display throughout the hall and into the meeting room.  I think you will be surprised at the quality work displayed by these talented 4-Hers.   The photography club meets the first Wednesday of every month and new members are always welcome.
