Students from Henry County Middle School had a fruitful spring break. On Thursday, April 7, students and teachers met to implement the first round of their Greenscaping project. The project is just the first phase of an on-going attempt for an outdoor classroom that may be several years in the making. With the help of being awarded a $500 MAC Grant from McDonald’s and the $500 Marshall Banta Conservation Grant from the Henry County Conservation District, the project is well on its way. The school district then matched the grants that were awarded so that the project could be even more successful with a $2,000 budget. Local landscaper Joe Akers of Lakeview Nursery also donated several trees and much of his time and expertise to get the project going in the right direction. Special thanks to: Joe Akers and Lakeview Nursery, Larisa McKinney and family, Carrie Nethery, Amy Treece and family, and Henry County students; Cassie Metts, Kayla Hunter, Eric Gidzinski, Shelby Treece, Patrick Moody, Cody Wardrup, Haley Bramblette, CJ Owens, Lexie Owens, Paige Deburger, Molly Williamson, Keely Merryman, Ashley Renwick, Johanna Renwick, Zack Pace, Laura Gregory, Megan Hayden, Terralynn Smith, Luke Armstrong, and Shelby Woodyard.
