Henry County residents have long enjoyed the home-style cooking and fresh baked pies served at Mom’s Restaurant in New Castle.
Now owner Nancy Tipton has opened a second Mom’s in Pendleton.
Located at the corner of Kentucky 146 and 153, diners can expect the same great food they’ve loved at the original. “We offer home-cooked plate lunches, dinner specials and homemade pies,” Tipton said.
The biggest difference is the extended hours. Mom’s in Pendleton is open Monday through Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We stay pretty busy,” she said.
Tipton said she originally bought Mom’s in 1993. Over the next several years the restaurant was passed around between family members before she bought it back in 2006. Now Tipton feels the business is ready to grow. “I’ve had a lot of customers wanting me to come this way,” she said.
Tipton said her favorite foods to prepare are the home-baked cream pies. “I get here at 3 a.m. and start on those,” she said.
The restaurant is located at the corner of Highways 146 and 53 in Pendleton.
Decorated in red and white, the diner-style front room offers a choice of table or counter seating. The main dining room features several more tables plus a large round table that accommodates eight. “We can seat 50 plus,” Tipton said. “I just love it.”
Mom’s Restaurant’s new location is at 11 Lake Jericho Road (Kentucky 153). The phone number is 743-9578. Mom’s New Castle location is at 18 W. Cross Main, and the number is 845-7598.
