I am writing this letter in support of my brother Billy Sanders for the position of the Henry County jailer. So often we get caught up in voting for the political party that we are affiliated with instead of who is really the best candidate for the job, especially on the local level.
There are three candidates running for this position and I’m sure all are upstanding citizens of Henry County, but there is really only one who is qualified and experienced to do this job on day one and that is Billy Sanders.
Billy has been working in the Jailer Department either as a deputy jailer or currently as the acting jailer for the past 10 months. He stepped up and took the jailer job when the elected jailer resigned. Because of this he has the experience to do this job and needs no additional training. He also has a quality team of deputies in place who needs no additional training.
The Henry County jailer is not a part-time job or a job you can pass off onto your deputies all the time. The jailer is a full-time job and has to be on call 24/7, 365 days a year. Billy is retired from the Henry County Public Schools system where he taught for 30 years and drove a school bus for another five years. He is an active member of the Port Royal Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon.
Being retired, he has no other job to go to or business to run except giving 100 percent of his time to being the Henry County jailer. He has proven that already. Billy is running as an independent write-in candidate, so on Nov. 8, when you go to the polls to vote please ask for a write-in ballot, black out the square where it says write-in and write in Billy Sanders. Please come out and support my brother, Billy Sanders.
