Vote yes on Liquor by the Drink

The City Council of Eminence is going to vote on liquor by the drink sales and the citizens of Eminence are wondering if liquor by the drink is the right move. Every town that is about to become a city has pondered the same question and they all have approved liquor by the drink sales. All neighboring cities — Carrollton, Shelbyville and LaGrange have liquor by the drink. The dry towns are mostly made up of rich and retired people who don’t want anything in their town. To them, there is nothing wrong with that. But what about the working people of these towns that have to drive as far away as Louisville to get a job? We need more factories in Eminence. Now, what does this have to do with liquor by the drink? It is a fact that most restaurants and motels will avoid building in a town that does not have mixed drinks. Factories will also avoid building in such a town. This does not seem fair, but it’s true: All cities in the U.S.A. have mixed drinks because of the economy. Sometimes people who are retired and or rich can forget about the welfare of the working people and so can city council members. The young people we have in Eminence and Henry County are good kids. If there is any drinking at all, it’s more than likely from them sneaking alcohol from their parents’ private bar at home, certainly not from the controlled bars we have here in Eminence. It’s the responsibility of the city council members to watch out for the well being of the citizens of this city. This also means that their own personal, religious beliefs should be set aside and work for the best interest of the citizens. This is an example of why in the Constitution, that the separation of church and state is so important, in government. Please, vote yes on liquor by the drink. Tom Boyer Eminence
