Women in Ag conference set for November 4-6

Kentucky Women in Agriculture will hold their 14th Annual Conference Nov. 4-6 at the Crowne Plaza-Campbell House Inn in Lexington. 

The theme of this year’s conference is “Next Generation Farming.”   Registration is $85 for the two-day conference ($65 for students), which includes all meals, Taste of Kentucky Proud event and membership dues for 2014.  Registration is due by Oct. 23, 2013.  A limited number of conference scholarships are available. 

Seminars to be held Monday, Nov. 4, will cover farm incubators, preparing beginning farmers and a women’s health forum.   Keynote speaker for Monday will be Debbie Lyons Blythe, the 2012 Monsanto Farm Mom of the Year.  Tradeshow exhibits will open at 9:30 a.m. along with registration.

Tuesday includes a district networking breakfast featuring a panel discussion about the history of women in agriculture, and a roundtable session with topics from statewide resources to marketing to homegrown heroes. 

KWIA’s 2013 award winners will also be announced during Tuesday’s luncheon, recognizing the outstanding achievements of KWIA members and supporters.  Speaking during the awards luncheon will be former U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao.  The evening wraps up with the Kentucky Proud Taste Event featuring Kentucky Proud products and chefs.
