On Nov. 4, 2010, I was at home and became really sick and had to call Henry County EMS to transport me to the VA hospital where I was admitted to the hospital for about five days. After getting out of the hospital and being home a couple of weeks, I received a bill from Henry County EMS for $1,391. I was so surprised by the amount of this bill that my heart skipped a beat and I thought I was going to have to go back to the hospital.
I know that we need the Henry County EMS and they do good and important work. They also have to make money to pay their employees, but my God just what are these charges for. I didn’t have an IV or anything, it was just a ride to the VA hospital on Zorn Avenue and that’s all. Will someone please tell me if this is standard policy? Why does it cost so much?
