Members of Youth Coalition recently visited with New Castle Elementary School students involved in the GEMS program (Girls Empowered and Motivated to Succeed). The program, directed by the HCPS Family Resource Center, focuses on fifth-grade girls in the areas of self-esteem, health, nutrition, conflict resolution, relationships and more. Youth Coalition members talked to the girls about setting goals and how using alcohol, tobacco or other drugs could hinder their ability to reach their goals.
