    No longer do those have to be words that put fear into the hearts of men and women.  The 23rd Annual Extension Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the Henry County Homemakers Organization, will help you fill up those stockings with no problem at all.

  • Kentucky 4-H Councils receive funds from ag tag donations

    The Kentucky 4-H Foundation is excited to announce the results from the 2015 Ag Tag Donations that will go to assist Kentucky 4-H programs and counties across the Commonwealth. Back in March, Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer, 4-H and FFA asked farmers across the Commonwealth to step-up and make the “Ag Tag” donation.

    A while ago, I talked about the importance of proper sanitation with fruit trees, and this week, I want to talk about sanitation of gardens in the fall. 

    By now, most gardens are finished, and like most gardens in the fall, they aren’t cleaned until the following spring.

    Few things say fall better than pumpkins. Whether you use them to cook, decorate or carve, chances are a pumpkin in some form or fashion will be a part of your seasonal celebrations. In fact, 80 percent of the U.S. pumpkin supply is available in October.

  • 2016 Certified Roadside Farm Market enrollment period open

    The season for roadside farm markets is far from over, but Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) wants to help market owners get next year’s efforts off to a great start – enrollment for the 2016 Certified Roadside Farm Market program is now open, according to a KFB news release.
    Established in July 1996, the KFB Certified Roadside Farm Market program began as an initiative to help farmers market their fruits and vegetables directly from roadside markets to consumers across the Commonwealth.

    Oct. 21:  A viewing of Alive Inside at 11:30 a.m. at the Henry County Extension Office.  
    Our Second Wind Dreams Committee is hoping to partner with Music and Memory to provide personalized music recordings for our nursing home residents who are dealing with dementia.  This 25-minute video which was a winner in the 2014 Sundance Audience Award category will introduce you to the program and touch your heart.

    • Alive Inside with Music and Memory Video showing on Oct. 21:  Our Second Wind Dreams Committee is hoping to provide a program of personalized music for individuals who are dealing with Alzheimer’s at Providence New Castle.  
    This is part of a national effort to bring some joy to individuals dealing with dementia and music seems to be one avenue to do this.  On Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 11:30 a.m., we will show a 25-minute video that will share the highlights of the program here at the Extension Office.
