Today's Features

  • Meet six-year-old Jimmy.  He likes to climb all over furniture, run around and often speaks out of turn.  
    His mom reports that she is worn out because Jimmy just won’t mind.  
    His teacher says that Jimmy doesn’t pay attention in class and won’t finish his assignments.

    The church sanctuary at Eminence Christian Church, 5333 S. Main Street in Eminence is open each Wednesday from noon until 1 p.m. for quiet prayer and reflection. All are welcome to come and go as time allows.

    Grace Fellowship of La Grange will have midweek services at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in the Ramada Inn meeting room.

    Franklinton Baptist Church will have a community picnic and entertainment at the Franklinton Community Center on Saturday, Aug. 29. Entertainment will be provided by Eminence Singers and Magician Terry Kelly. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. and the entertainment at 6 p.m.

    Pleasant View Baptist Church will celebrate Choir Appreciation Day on Sunday, Aug. 23, during the 11 a.m. service. The speaker will be Minister Brenda Higgins, Associate Minister of Bethesda Church, Shelbyville.

    Has anyone ever said that to you?
    It doesn’t always work. I would have loved being one of those guys who played basketball, baseball and football.
    Actually, I did . . . in backyards and driveways.
    When it came to playing on our school teams, I lacked the coordination to play basketball or baseball.
    All the “try-harder” I could muster was not enough.
